I am new to Youth and Junior Art, but have stewarded Fine Art for the previous two years. This year I will be assisted by another artist, Beverley Scofield.
We are keen to increase local interest in the Youth and Junior Art Competitions in 2017. So, in categories YA5 and YA6 we have doubled the prize money of previous years, while not increasing entry fees. And early in the 2017 school year we will be visiting all our local schools to hand out entry forms and to encourage involvement in this bigger, brighter, competition.
Although work submitted can be framed or unframed, I would like to see our young artists paying increased attention to the presentation of their work in 2017.
Artists also must not forget to label each artwork with its title, selling price, Section entered, artist’s name and contact phone number so we can advise winners in time for them to attend the prize presentation on Saturday 9 July at 10.30am. If work is to be for sale, please remember that a 25% commission applies, so incorporate the commission when considering an appropriate sale price for your work.
