History

Since 1966 LCACA has continually staged an Annual Open Competitive Exhibition held at twelve different venues in the Lower Clarence.   Children’s Sections have always been included.

From 2000 to 2005 we upgraded the Exhibition to an “Arts & Crafts Expo,”   showcasing all arts & crafts including poetry, writing, demonstrations, performing arts and entertainment. With many generous Sponsors and help from Maclean Shire Council, the Maclean Lions Club and the Maclean Rotary Club, it was the largest Arts & Crafts Exhibition on the North Coast. It was very popular with both entrants and visitors.

From 2006 to 2015 we downsized the Annual Exhibition and held them in schools at Maclean, Yamba and Gulmarrad. In 2015 interest grew, and in 2016 we decided to hire again the larger facilities of the historic Maclean Showgrounds.

Following 2018 storm damage to the Showgrounds buildings, we have been fortunate to secure Maclean High School for the venue for 53rd Clarence River Arts and Crafts Festival.
