History

Since 1966 LCACA has continually staged an Annual Open Competitive Exhibition held at twelve different venues in the Lower Clarence.   Children’s Sections have always been included.

From 2000 to 2005 we upgraded the Exhibition to an “Arts & Crafts Expo,”   showcasing all arts & crafts including poetry, writing, demonstrations, performing arts and entertainment. With many generous Sponsors and help from Maclean Shire Council, the Maclean Lions Club and the Maclean Rotary Club, it was the largest Arts & Crafts Exhibition on the North Coast. It was very popular with both entrants and visitors.

From 2006 to 2015 we downsized the Annual Exhibition ( due to pressure on the Showground facilities and the stress on volunteer members at the time.) and held them in schools at Maclean, Yamba and Gulmarrad. In 2015 interest grew, and in 2016 we decided to hire again the larger facilities of the beautiful Maclean Showgrounds, where refurbishments to facilities have begun.

Now work is in progress to present our “Clarence River Arts Festival” the 52nd Annual Open Art, Crafts & Quilt Exhibition 2017. Sections and prize money have been increased to make this Festival one not to be missed by entrants and visitors.
